This
is true that when modern technology enters, it will push out traditional
skills. It’s harsh but this is the truth. Modern technology does play a key
role in the development of any country. Every country on this planet will
definitely like to make economic development at any cost. In order to bring
development to the country, modern technology is indispensable. With the aid of
modern technology, mass production of goods is possible. This will increase
gross domestic product and finally, the country will stop importing and
starts exporting goods and services. All this is possible through modern
technology.
However,
this is also true that modern technologies have replaced traditional skills.
For instance, computers have replaced type-writers and mobile phones have
largely displaced post offices, watches, newspapers, and radio. Likewise, rice
mills have pushed out wooden rice-beater and stone grinders.
Thus,
it should be accepted that modern technology has the power to change the face
of the nation. It plays the role of catalyst to develop any nation.
However, sometimes questions are raised whether traditional skills should be revived or not. Because there are many people who suggest no efforts should be made to preserve or revive traditional skills. But I strongly believe that the traditional skills and culture of any country are inseparable parts. Loss of traditional skills does mean the loss of cultural identities as well. On top traditional skills will always remind our new generation to remember about our ancestors and their ways of life.
In
conclusion, modern technology is something that is unavoidable, but at the same
time, modern technology is indispensable. Thus, I think that traditional skills
must not be left out completely, it should be preserved with all due respect.
