I am glad eventually the book could see the light of the day. “I am much obliged to Phadindra Akinchan for editing the book. His painstaking job helped the book to acquire literary flavor and a professional look. I also give thanks to Gauri Gurung for her support and encouragement in the publication of the book”. Addressing the audience, Phadindra Akinchan, workin

DR.GOVINDA KC’S CRUSADE AGAINST CORRUPTION

Image
By LB THAPA Today there are very few people in Nepal the country can proud of. Meanwhile, there are so many cockroaches in Nepali politics, which are good for nothing. However, they are enjoying the benefits not even remotely deserve. This is unfortunate that the country has been held hostage in the hands of such tainted politicians. As long as Nepal has such corrupt politicians, neck deep in filth of corruption, the country has no future…it is bound to fall apart. Today whatever the condition the nation has, for that, our political leaders should be held accountable. Their filthy characters, low mentality, lust for power has made this nation wretched and bankrupt. Looking at our political leaders attitude, it seems that a pack of vultures feasting on a carcass. Dr.KC has stood against corruption as a lone warrior as he has taken corrupt politicians single handedly. His efforts have exposed the magnitude of corruption rampant in the medical sector. It is so sad to know tha

By LB THAPA The recent fuel crisis, due to Indian embargo against Nepal, made many Nepali people to think about an alternative source of transport. In such a period of crisis, the convenient means of transport can be bicycles. Doctors say regular cycling keeps people physically healthy and mentally alert. Cycling does have uncountable health benefits. This is the reason why nowadays more people have drawn towards cycling than ever before. The health benefits of the cycling are many and unbelievable. The other day Cycling Dharan had organized a fortnight cycling tour from Dharan to Sikkim. To participate in the tour, many professional cyclists from different parts of the country had flocked in Dharan. The special attraction of the tour was Pushkar Shah, the only Nepali cyclist who has paddled over 120 countries. Today Pushkar Shah has attained a tall stature at home and abroad. There were 16 cyclists i

IS LOCKDOWN A REMEDY FOR THE PANDEMIC?

Image
Due to lockdown, many poor people got locked in their houses where they are forced to live without food. In a situation like this what we saw on social media that many groups of philanthropists reached out to poor people and fed them. The government must think of other possible ways of lockdown. Photo: Adli Wahid-Unsplash By LB THAPA After the first wave of Coronavirus, now the pathogen is playing havoc in its second wave. In the meantime, the world has been warned of the third possible wave in the offing. Experts believe that the third wave could be even more devastative than the two earlier waves. The leading virologists of the world look quite apprehensive because the virus is smartly camouflaged and attacking its victims relentlessly, showing no mercy at all.   Since its outbreak in China, Coronavirus has already taken the shape of a pandemic, killing numerous human lives and inflicting serious injuries on the global economy. During the early phase of the pandemic, many countries w

THE GREAT PICKPOCKETERS OF DELHI

Image
I do really appreciate the highly advanced skill of these Pickpocketers of Delhi, India. Photo: Courtesy.    ‘Watch out, there are pickpocketers everywhere in Delhi. They can steal your shoes from your feet and you don’t know’, said our tour guide on the Delhi Darshan bus   LB THAPA , Delhi, India Recently I was on a tour to India for different purposes. My first destination was Delhi. The bus I had boarded from Pokhara to Delhi, reached Delhi at 9 o’clock night---three hours late than its scheduled time 5-6 pm. The bus service provided by Modern Era Torus & Travel was disgusting and I swore never to travel by it next time.  The bus left the passengers at Jahangirpuri, not a recognized bus park. I took a tempo and reached Dhaula kuwa and from there I was picked up to the home. Monica, my sister-in-law in Delhi, did arrange an e-ticket for Delhi Darshan (Delhi sightseeing). During my stay in Delhi, I saw many people using mobile and laptops for day-to-day transactions. Maybe the eff

WOMAN PRESIDENT…NO THANKS!

Image
Photo: islamforward.com “We would rather prefer a sexual predator” By VINAY THAKUR Like many, the result of the US presidential election was surprising for me. It was not shocking as the contest was very tight, but the result definitely surprised me. Politically, I consider myself an independent; I don't subscribe to any political ideology as I find some good, bad, and terrible points from both sides of the political spectrum. I support some of Mr. Trump's immigration and economic policies, but this man lost all my support the day that disgusting video came out, and he pathetically tried to justify that conversation as a "locker room talk."  He literally sounded like a sexual predator in that video, it was horrifying to watch a presidential nominee talking like that not very long ago. It seems for many his self-confession of sexual assault was not an issue at all, they are completely fine with the lame excuse of locker room talk. Now, I know the difference
