DR.GOVINDA KC’S CRUSADE AGAINST CORRUPTION

Today there are very few people in Nepal the country can proud of. Meanwhile, there are so many cockroaches in Nepali politics, which are good for nothing. However, they are enjoying the benefits not even remotely deserve. This is unfortunate that the country has been held hostage in the hands of such tainted politicians.

As long as Nepal has such corrupt politicians, neck deep in filth of corruption, the country has no future…it is bound to fall apart. Today whatever the condition the nation has, for that, our political leaders should be held accountable. Their filthy characters, low mentality, lust for power has made this nation wretched and bankrupt. Looking at our political leaders attitude, it seems that a pack of vultures feasting on a carcass.

Dr.KC has stood against corruption as a lone warrior as he has taken corrupt politicians single handedly. His efforts have exposed the magnitude of corruption rampant in the medical sector. It is so sad to know that a doctor’s demand is for the betterment of the nation and for its people, but the government is still mum over such benevolent issues. In fact, such corruptions should be checked by the state, because it is state's responsibility to see if any irregularities happening.

Dr. KC is the man who never lived for himself. His life is dedicated to the service of people. He never used any financial help from any institutes or individuals. He would save his salary and used the money for traveling far-flung regions of the country where normally no doctors prefer to go. Dr.KC has visited all 75 districts of the country and attended uncountable numbers of patients. He takes no fee from them. He gives them all free medical treatment instead. He helps those patients to Kathmandu whose medical condition is critical. Dr. KC treats them and again helps them to return home.

Dr.KC had followed all possible ways to stop corruption in the medical sector, but his efforts could not be materialized before a more organized mafia. He was compelled to sit for fast-un-to-death protest several times…yielding no major success.

He has demanded nothing for himself. Everything that he has demanded is for the welfare of the people and stopping nepotism and favoritism in the bureaucratic system. In the past, Dr. KC has accused the education minister Chitralekha Yadav for allegedly misusing her power by giving affiliations to two medical colleges without following set guidelines. She has also been accused of influencing the TU officials to grant affiliation to medical colleges in Kathmandu.      

Dr.KC has vociferously demanded to end new medical college affiliations until the country is prepared with a policy to regulate the sector. Dr.KC's only wish is to end ill practice in medical education sector. At least our politicians should show some degree of pity upon medical sector. I don't remember if there is any sector left where our corrupt politicians have not put their hands with tainted intention.

Take the example of sports sector. How dirty politics has ruined the sports sector of the country. Today Nepal Sports Council (NSC) has become a puppet in the hands of political leaders. In a recent development, the British government has warned Nepal government to curve corruption or they will be forced to slash economic aide to Nepal. Not only the UK government but also some other international organizations have also warned Nepal government to improve situation or face repercussion.     

The country is behind Dr.KC to fight against those corrupt political leaders who think that the country is their personal property and they can use it whatever way they like. In a recent time a large number of people including medical professionals, students, civil society representatives and rights activists gathered at the TUTH premises and expressed their unequivocal support for Dr.KC.

For those political leaders Dr.KC may be a worthless creature, but for the nation, he is a hero and a champion. The recent Oli government has given a damn to Dr. KC’s demands and paved the way for the mafias to rule the roost.

Nepali people in general are not happy the way prime minister Oli is ruling the nation.  He is ruling the country more like a dictator than a responsible leader.

No need to make any prediction about the fate of this unruly government. In the next general election, the people of Nepal will correct their mistakes and show this government its right place. Truthfully speaking Nepali people in general are vastly disappointed from this government.
