SHOULD ARTISTS BE GIVEN FULL FREEDOM TO EXPRESS THEIR CREATIVITY?

Artists are the most creative people in our society. Should there be any restriction upon them or not? This is the subject of discussion. Photo: LB Thapa

Even artists cannot be left unbridled. A healthy limitation is a must. Proper monitoring of creative artists is equally important. Every artist’s creation must be monitored whether it is appropriate or not.

Without an iota of doubt, artists should be given complete freedom to express their ideas. However, this does not mean that there should not be a limit. Of course, inappropriate materials must not be served. There must be a clear demarcation line between creativity and vulgarity.

Artists are respected all over the world for their creativity. Artists like poets, singers, painters, and so on are the nation's assets. People as a whole appreciate the creativity of the artists with both hands. Unconditional love and appreciation of the people give emotional and psychological impetus to artists.

Hence, concrete and pragmatic rules should be made by the government and these rules must be implemented at most. Moreover, it is an artist’s responsibility to create such contents that must leave a positive impact on society.

For instance, a poet or singer should create such contents that must motivate the audience. It should not create panic and insecurity among them. Creative artists must be able to give strength, power, and courage through their poetry or music.

In my opinion, artists should be given the freedom to express their ideas and creativity in any form they like. However, there must be watchful eyes against those unscrupulous artists who are always ready to take undue advantage of the freedom they are given.
