ACTING WITH THE UTMOST DECORUM

Nowadays our society has been passing through a critical phase of time. Photo: Tyler Lastovich

If young people get proper guidance and encouragement from senior family members then there is no doubt, why our young people cannot succeed. In recent times, we have seen many young boys and girls who, after receiving advanced degrees and diplomas from abroad, finally chose Nepal to begin a career. A decent career is definitely possible in the country.

Society is dynamic where a change is inevitable. That’s why each culture is different and unique in its own right. It is also true that over the last many years more people have started traveling abroad for different reasons. It is quite noticeable that more people from those poor nations, one like ours, have shown a keen desire to immigrate and follow the western culture and lifestyle. Even many parents encourage their children to leave home to abroad for various reasons.

Many people simply believe that leaving their families behind and going abroad for money is not a good practice. They think that young people should better stay home and try their luck in the country. There are still too many things, which can be successfully done in the country. The only thing required is commitment and dedication to succeed.

However, nowadays it is observed that younger people prefer to live separately from their parents. This is not a good trend at all. This is not our culture. This is a western culture where younger people leave their parents and live independently. This is the reason nowadays many foreigners do prefer to live in Nepal. Why? It is because now they have understood the value of the physical and emotional support of a family.

It is therefore parents’ responsibility to make their children more independent and responsible. For this, parents should leave some responsibilities on the shoulders of teenagers. Let them tackle things themselves and let them grow through trial and error. Parents should also allow their young children to make decisions for themselves. Taking a decision for themselves will make young children more responsible and mature. Such type of learning process will make today’s children more capable and resilient.
